Inventory of Middle Persian documents from Islamic Iran
This table gives bibliographical information for every fully published Middle Persian document in the Berkeley (Berk.), Berlin (Berl.), and Los Angeles (LA) collections, as well as the privately held documents from Tabarestān (Tab.), and those in Tehran published by Dieter Weber. This includes all known Middle Persian documents from Islamic-era Iran, as well as several that could conceivably date from the Sasanian period. We plan to eventually expand the scope of this resource to include other Middle Persian documents—particularly the papyri from late Sasanian and early Islamic Egypt, as well as ostraca.
To see the full references in the table, click here. In most cases it is straightforward to find the edition of a document, given that one knows it is in a given publication to begin with, and has access to that publication. Consequently, for most references, no page numbers have been given, although page numbers are given where the location of a given edition within a publication is not obvious.
Many documents in these collections remain unpublished; if a document’s shelfmark or reference number does not have an entry in the table, it is, as far as we know, not published.
