'A Night with Buddha' event commemorates the statues of the Buddha in Bamiyan.
On International Women’s Day, Nabi Saqee was invited to speak at this event at the Kulturhuset in Stockholm, which commemorated the anniversary of the destruction of the statues of the Buddha in Bamiyan.
Discussions focused on the role and contribution of women in the transmission and preservation of cultural heritage. Saqee presented on ‘The Role and Status of Women in the Medieval Persian Documents from Khurasan’, specifically the Bamiyan and Firuzkuh Papers in the Invisible East Digital Corpus. He also joined a panel with representatives from UNESCO and the Världskulturmuseet.
The event was organised by Zahra Hossaini, Hayat Ensafi, and their colleagues, in co-ordination with the Kulturhuset. In previous years, this event was held in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.
